!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Somehow this is a movable aerodynamic device. Either way it is widely regarded that mercedes have the most complex and effective system on the grid and that most teams have this. In an effort to curtail Mercedes dominance enforce their rules the FIA have decided this is now illegal despite Lotus having used it since 2008.

What does this mean? Well I doubt they'll get a unanimous decision on the matter which means the FRIC will probably be banned in Germany. If that happens this could dramatically shake up the grid in Germany. Good luck with your predictions if this goes into effect.

This is why F1 is a fucking joke these days. It's no longer about the pinnacle of automotive racing engineering, talent, and construction.
I'm not arguing for the "good 'ole days." I'm simply stating it's embarrassing with decisions like this that limit the performance capabilities of the cars. This is the opposite of what the F1 should be going for.

Yeah and no. They've got a set of rules that should be followed otherwise there will only be 3 or 4 teams left with enough money to compete.

Dang, I guess that disqualifies the Toyota 4Runner and its X-REAS suspension .

I'm not sure which is worse, a shitty article (linked) that was researched about 2 mouse clicks past Charlie Whiting's press release or the idea that the Mercedes power plant is not the differentiator.

I used to get bothered by these technical restrictions for cost savings, then I began to get the rationale of "saving the sport" as a whole for lower budget teams.
Now, I'm not so sure. I'd still watch a 4-team series with truly unlimited engineering. It would be awesome, about that I have no doubt. Let some of the tech trickle down into spec series eventually, whatever, but the cutting edge should be just that.
